Huge thanks to Gabriela Tudor for her guest blog.

Is this Tinder for you and your friends? Very possibly.

Facebook Messenger is trying to encourage you to meet with your friends, Tinder-style. This allows you to see a variety of friends you might like to meet and if both parties reply in the affermative, you will receive a notification.

It there a real need? We pretty much use Messenger to communicate with all of our friends anyway. All you need to do is ask! Will this feel like an even greater intrusion into your privacy by Facebook’s algorithm? Will it just suggest people you have stopped talking to and are not looking to reach? Could this encourage users to actually “unfriend” one another? We’ll soon find out!
